About Me
As a child, I was always drawing something. Usually cartoons or recreations of my favorite movie posters. But I never dreamed I could take that passion into a career. Heck, I didn't even know what a career was. But here, years later, I have worked professionally in industries that have excited me and kept my enthusiasm for art alive. My creative side has always been the thing that has pushed me to persue some risky but exciting ventures, including moving all around the country and taking a product built with a development partner, entirely from the love of videogames, all the way to the USA on the offchance it may get signed up by a publisher. I've never looked at something and said "I can't do that". Always wanting to see what I can achieve do something new, I've learned a lot of varied skills over the years with this attitude. It's the passion and ... intrigue ... that keeps my focus - and gets me to the end of - even the most technical of projects.
I've always been interested in the technical and creative sides of everything I've ever been brought up with. My childhood was filled with computers from the ZX Spectrum 48k on to my first PC, an Epson Equity III+! At the time, my Dad would always bring new computers and computer parts home. We'd tinker for hours trying to get things to work in different ways. I credit my Dad with pretty much all of my interest in technology. But where others would buy PC Gamer Magazine, I'd be buying Personal Computer World Magazine and reading up on art software.
I found my first introduction to animation software on the freebie floppy disk of a Magazine in the form of Autodesk Animator v1, which had been discontinued so was being given free. At the time, it was beyond what I'd imagined possible on a computer and I began creating simple animations immediately. I eventually went to college and studied animation at HND level.
I am a big music fan and have played guitar for over 15 years. I'm currently in a band which allows me to once again, to create, in the form of music. I write all the music in the band and I find it incredibly fun, and a great sideline to my work in terms of creative output.
I live with my girlfriend who is also incredibly creative and a brilliant talent. For the last 3 years, we've worked very closely at home on freelance projects together as she is a talented illustrator, but recently she's moved more into photography. I think we are able to work as a great team and can actually offer a lot as a partnership.
Last interesting fact ... we have six cats!
