Video Game Thoughts – MAG (PS3)
3/02/2010
So I got MAG. It’s an online exclusive First Person Shooter on PS3. I have been waiting for many months for this game. And after a few hours play was immediately dissapointed. I was angry at how everyone else seemed to be able to headshot me while I was literally getting my ass handed to me every 10 seconds. As angry as I got though, I can’t help but think that since I spent around 4 hours solid on my first play, perhaps it’s actually not so bad? In fact, perhaps it’s actually really good. You start off with literally the worst most inaccurate weapons. You start off by training and you can play with other players in a live training mission which you can play as often as you like to build skill points, XP points (every kill, or revival you make etc will add points), to up your skills and weapons. The missions are unlocked as you achieve more and earn more points. As you earn you build up your class level. Every time it achieves a certain level you are given unlocked missions. With 96 players on one level (the amount of players goes up as you get new missions) I didn’t experience a single moment’s of lag, so it looks as though Zipper (the developer) has that side sorted. It’s impressive since playing other online games with up to 32 players can bring lag more often than you’d think. Overall I’d say I am going to keep playing and hopefully I will become less awful at the game and actually get some kills!
